Iran Helicopter Crash: President and Foreign Minister Killed

Nine Dead in Tragic Accident

Bell 212 Helicopter Goes Down in Mountain Fog

Nine people, including Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday. The helicopter, a Bell 212 with serial number 35071 and aircraft registration number 6-9221, went down in mountain fog near the city of Kerman.

The helicopter was estimated to be 4050 years old. It was part of Iran's arsenal of helicopters, many of which are manufactured by Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company HESA.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. However, initial reports suggest that the fog may have played a role in the accident.

The deaths of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian are a major blow to Iran. Raisi was a hardline conservative who had been in office for just over a year. Abdollahian was a veteran diplomat who had served as foreign minister since 2021.

The crash has sent shockwaves through the Iranian government and the international community. It is a reminder of the dangers that world leaders face when traveling by helicopter.
